Terms of Service
Last updated: July 12, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Guitar Codex mobile application (the "App"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. The App
Guitar Codex is a guitar learning and reference application for iOS. It provides tools including a chromatic tuner, metronome, chord and scale libraries, an interactive circle of fifths, and instructional lesson content. Some features are free; others are unlocked through a one-time in-app purchase (see "Purchases" below).
2. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for your own non-commercial use, subject to these Terms and to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell, or redistribute the App or its content except as permitted by law.
3. Purchases
The App offers optional one-time purchases to unlock additional features and lessons. All purchases are one-time and permanent — Guitar Codex does not offer, and will never charge, a recurring subscription.
- Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment information.
- Prices are shown in the App before purchase and may change for future buyers.
- Purchases can be restored on your devices via "Restore Purchases" in the App, subject to your Apple ID entitlements.
- Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with the App Store's refund policy. We are unable to issue refunds directly.
4. Privacy
The tuner and metronome use your device's microphone to detect pitch in real time. Audio is processed on-device only — it is never recorded, stored, or transmitted, and microphone access is released when you leave those tools. Purchase and entitlement handling is performed by Apple and our payment provider (RevenueCat) in accordance with their respective privacy policies.
5. Educational Content
Lesson and reference content is provided for general educational purposes. While we aim for accuracy, music theory and technique can be taught in different valid ways, and we make no guarantee that the content is complete, error-free, or suitable for any particular goal.
6. Disclaimers
The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Guitar Codex and its owners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or relating to your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for it.
8. Changes to the App and Terms
We may update, change, or discontinue features of the App at any time. We may also revise these Terms; when we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
