Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 12, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the Guitar Codex mobile application (the "App") handles information. We built Guitar Codex to be privacy-respecting by default: it works without an account and keeps your data on your device wherever possible.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, email address, or contact information through the App. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics/tracking SDKs.
2. Information Stored on Your Device
Your preferences and learning progress — such as theme choice, tuning settings, and which lessons you've completed — are stored locally on your device using standard app storage. This information stays on your device, is not transmitted to us, and is removed if you delete the App.
3. Microphone
The tuner and metronome use your device's microphone to detect the pitch of your guitar in real time. This audio is processed entirely on your device to show the note and tuning meter. It is never recorded, saved, or sent anywhere, and the App releases microphone access when you leave those tools. iOS will ask for your permission before the microphone is first used, and you can revoke it any time in the iOS Settings app.
4. Purchases
Guitar Codex offers optional one-time purchases. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store, and we use RevenueCat to manage and verify purchase entitlements (for example, to know whether you've unlocked Pro or Complete and to restore purchases across your devices).
- We never see or store your payment card or full Apple ID.
- To manage purchases, RevenueCat processes purchase records and an app-generated identifier. This is used to deliver what you bought — not to track you across other apps or services, and not to advertise to you.
- Apple's and RevenueCat's own privacy policies govern the data they process. See Apple's Privacy Policy and RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
5. How Information Is Used
The limited information described above is used only to make the App work — to remember your settings and progress, run the tuner, and deliver and restore purchases you've made. We do not use it for advertising or profiling, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
6. Children's Privacy
Guitar Codex is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the App does not collect personal information through an account, there is nothing for a parent to request removal of; if you have questions, contact us below.
7. Your Choices
- Revoke microphone access any time in iOS Settings → Guitar Codex.
- Delete all locally stored settings and progress by deleting the App.
- Manage or request a refund for purchases through your Apple ID / the App Store.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be reflected here on this page.
